Sarah Porter is the new managing director at COHS. Sarah replaces Jim Burkinshaw who retired at the end of May 2024. She has been learning the ropes over the past 6 weeks! We are very happy to have her join us!
A bit more about her:
After moving to the Okanagan in 2001 from the Lower Mainland, Sarah can't imagine calling anywhere else home! Living mainly in the lower mission area of Kelowna for many years, she attended OUC (Okanagan University College then) and received her Diploma in Business Administration. In 2005, Sarah decided she was ready to take the plunge and opened Bella Clothing Boutique on South Pandosy Street and operated her business there for 12.5 years. She was was instrumental in developing the Pandosy Village Business Association & loved putting on events, fundraisers for different charities and building the community and shopping district that is there today.
When Sarah decided it was time to start a family, she decided to move on and close her retail business after 12 successful years. She continued subcontracting her services part time to other local businesses, helping with whatever services they needed (bookkeeping, web design, staffing, social media, policy/manual writing, etc).
After her son started kindergarten this past September, Sarah has been watching for the right opportunity that aligns with her values and skill set. She is excited to be back in the community that she loves and can't wait to see what she can bring and contribute to the Central Okanagan Heritage Society as the new Managing Director.
